Is your brand registered when you register with ACRA? Registering your business entity with ACRA does not automatically protect your brand, logo or symbol.
ACRA registration establishes your business as a legal entity while in order to protect your brand, need to register with IPOS. ACRA registration gets you a UEN for government and legal transactions, and it’s almost immediately. However, trademark registration is getting your brand a legal signature, that gives you exclusive rights to use that mark for your goods or services, and it’s a longer process that can take up to 11 months or longer.
Business entity registration prevents other from registering a company with the exact same name while trademark registration prevents competitors from using a confusingly similar brand in the same industry. Both involve a registration fee but trademark requires a renewal fee every 10 years.
